KAGOME CO., Ltd. is a major manufacturer of vegetable juices, ketchup and other beverages, food products and seasonings. The company remodeled its Tokyo head office with the goal of simultaneously reducing costs and raising administrative productivity. An address-free layout was used to reduce office area and a highly flexible desk system was adopted to also rein in running costs. Space to encourage 'knowledge-creation' activities was dispersed throughout the office to help realize an office where the right work is done in the right space by enabling workers to freely choose where to work in accordance with the work they are doing.
