Creating new ideas with lively communication and realizing maximum output as speedily as possible by enlivening spaces needed for the central offices of the future. Creating rather than choosing your workplace to suit your workstyle. These are some of the ideas behind the creation of the SPRINT agile furniture range.
The rapid spread of remote work has brought new problems to light. We’ve come to appreciate the importance of the kind of workstyle that’s achieved through explaining things face to face, solving problems by thinking together, and sharing time and space in the same real-life environment. Thus, we analyzed the process of accelerating your team to produce the maximum output as quickly as possible and extracted the environmental factors that make this possible.
The team space developed by our development team after repeated prototyping.
Our idea was to enhance the value of central offices by altering the environment to suit each of the stages in the process of PLAN → DEVELOP → TEST, using portable tools. As the next step, we identified the tools necessary to support each stage of the process. In the end, we settled on the three concepts of “Flexible,” “Quick,” and “Stock.”
Flexibility is what you need to deploy the necessary tools for the task at hand, being quick allows you to note down ideas as soon as they come to mind, and stock lets you rely on records and notes in your next meeting, rather than just memory. Our development team created several prototypes to thoroughly test for usability.
The development team collected conventional portable tools and tested them to see which were effective in accelerating the team. Things didn’t go as planned. Unforeseen issues surfaced. We took this as evidence that there was a need for an entirely new product offering.
Conventional portable whiteboards and monitor stands couldn’t be arranged freely, since their legs would get caught on things or bump into each other whenever they were moved or placed perpendicular to each other. By enclosing the casters used to move the object within a flat base, we were able to settle on a shape where the legs wouldn’t snag on things and the object could be moved and placed where it was needed, instead of where its shape dictated it should be.
The prototype was tested for usability and further refined
It was difficult to move around whiteboards and small items safely and securely by placing them on a wagon. Development progressed by steadily resolving these subtle issues.
Making sure the board can be affixed properly
“Why don’t we add a partition to ensure privacy?” “Wouldn’t it be great if the whiteboard could be used both vertically and horizontally?” “The transparent board can double as a layer.” “The handle used for moving the stands around should be made out of a soft material, since hard handles will make it difficult to place them tightly together.” Ideas started coming to us one after another.
Checking the portability of the board
Once we reached this stage, all we had to do was identify which features were really necessary. The final version of the SPRINT range that the development team came up with after actually testing prototypes was composed of a stand, wagons, a table, and a stool.
Handles for moving the stands around, which also allows them to be stored close together
The stand is adjustable and can be affixed with a whiteboard or a lattice fence board; the wagons options include a tool wagon that can be put to multiple uses, a team wagon that can comfortably store both small items and whiteboard panels, and a stock wagon exclusively for storing whiteboard panels. The SPRINT range also features a table and a stool option, both of which can be easily stacked up to 4 high. Agile furniture SPRINT accelerates your team.
We had a lot of fun using the products ourselves and thinking up ideas for creating a more productive work environment. Our discussions were positive throughout, which is only natural, since every improvement would result in a better work environment for us. At times, our positive attitude allowed us to make sound decisions and to reach the right conclusion with ease. The experience made me appreciate how having tools you can comfortably use is vital to accelerate your team. We hope SPRINT can be the spark to a virtuous cycle of productivity for our customers.
