Head Office

The head office of a company that operates a nationwide chain of private instruction-based prep schools, Meikogijuku, was relocated to Shinjuku, where the company was originally founded, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. The office has both head office functions and franchise headquarters functions as well as training facilities for franchisees. The design puts emphasis on lighting given that company's name means 'light.' Indirect lighting is used for the reception area and other interactions between the interior and the lighting produce a relaxed atmosphere, which has been a hit with both employees and training participants. The offices, which are based on the concept of a place where workers can do their jobs efficiently and comfortably, generally use universal setting, but some address-free seating is used for a more dynamic office environment. The work area where promotional materials are handled uses furniture customized to what is stored and the kind of work done to create a space that encourages fun, efficient work.
