Sphere
Made for activity-based working
In recent years, an increase in hybrid work has introduced greater flexibility for employees, providing on-site and remote work choices. Organizations have rapidly increased shared settings in the workplace to meet the fluctuating demands of this diverse and dynamic workforce.
Until now, this has frequently meant a compromise in seating experience. The casual light seating favored in shared settings is only intended for short duration sits. But behaviorally, on their office days, workers still tend to settle in for longer. Even if highly specified task chair is provided, very few workers take the time to make the beneficial micro adjustments, each time they settle in.
Sphere has been designed to eliminate this compromise.

Okamura's original "3D Physical Fit Shell" is adopted which uses an inner shell that is both supple and strong for the backrest and seat. Through unique slits, the shell naturally conforms to the physique of the user and gently wraps the body. Without the need for fine adjustment, the chair fits various physiques, including large and small people, to ensure comfortable seating. The area in contact between the chair and the body is widened, and the pressure on the body is properly dispersed. Body pressure dispersion prevents blood flow from being compressed and reduces fatigue even after sitting for long periods of time.
Re:net is a fabric that is particularly suitable for upholstering chairs. It is made from over 80 per cent recycled materials. The fabric is knitted from threads composed of nylon from discarded fishing nets and of recycled PET. The material with a pattern resembling a net has moderate stretch content and is soft yet structured. It is available in different colours. Depth is created by using up to four yarn colours. The fabric is durable, stain resistant and flame retardant.
The smooth form gently wraps the body, and the entire surface of the back and seat is covered with upholstery material, creating a soft impression. The two-tone coloring also allows for a more casual space presentation.
Equipped with a "3D Physical Fit Shell" that naturally adapts and changes to fit to the physique of a user, Sphere achieves an ideal connection between seating and the body.
Careful analysis of human movement and seated postures across diverse body types. led to a design based on human geometry. The backrest and seat surface employ a range of curvatures, which respond uniquely to even the slightest differences in size and shape.
Sphere's backrest and seat leverage the flexibility and strength of Okamura's 3D Physical Fit shell. The shell's construction naturally traces and supports the spine and body for a perfect fit. that is unique to each unique. through a range of postures.
Sphere’s backrest maintains the natural S-shape of the spine and curves gently around the waist of smaller frames, while the sides gently flex to support larger frames.
The seat surface comfortably supports hips, thighs, and buttocks by using slits that adaptively deliver the right sinkage, according to body size.
By increasing the contact area between the chair and the body, Sphere's 3D Physical Fit Shell disperses pressure. This enhances circulation and reduces fatigue, providing more comfort for longer.

Smooth fitting armrests take into account the unique working posture of today's workers.
Design armrests rounded inward to allow for a comfortable, natural posture when working with tablets and smartphones. Gently supports elbows and arms when using devices.
Armrests can be adjusted in four dimensions: height, depth, width, and angle-enabling the best elbow support for a range of tasks and devices.
Adjust the chair height within a range of 100mm (4"), by pulling the lever under the seat on the right.
Adjust the seat depth within a range of 50mm (2") by operating the levers on both sides, while seated. Option without seat depth adjustment is also available.
Okamura’s Multiple Density Cushion combines three layers of urethane foam, for better circulation. Soft support at the front reduces pressure on thighs while firmer hip support improves stability and posture.
The dial under the seat on the right side adjusts the reclining tension.
An ankle-tilt mechanism enables anyone to find his or her most comfortable reclining position. Using the ankle as a pivot point, this mechanism moves in sync with the seat, variation in posture and relaxation, with uninterrupted comfort.
