WELL at Work

Promotion of Employee Health

Creating healthy environments in which workers can perform to their full potential not only helps ensure the longevity of the company, but also adds corporate value too.

Tips for achieving WELL at Work

ACTIONS

Seven actions to maintain and further promote health at work.

Let’s create an environment in which the ‘Seven Actions to Maintain and Improve Health’ can be practised.

Health management initiatives are wide ranging. At Okamura we propose the Health Management Office. A Health Management Office is a place where each and every employee can maximise their performance by adopting seven key behaviours to maintain and promote good health, thereby improving the physical and mental harmony and vitality of workers. It is of utmost importance to provide an environment that inspires action, rather than leaving it solely to the will and efforts of the employee.

INITIATIVES

Eight office spaces that realize healthy working styles.

Based on Okamura’s unique knowledge, we are proposing a “health management office” that is comfortable both physically and mentally.

We propose an office space that is comfortable and safe for both mind and body, and where people can exchange opinions and co-create to produce new results. We realize a vibrant and healthy way of working.

Okamura is implementing various in-house initiatives to promote health management.

ACQUISITION

Okamura products can help towards achieving the WELL Building Standard.

Acquisition of the international certification system “WELL Certification” is a major contribution to the improvement of corporate value.

Based on seven years of rigorous research and development by the International WELL Building Institute, WELL Certification is the world’s first building and indoor evaluation system that focuses on the health and comfort of people living and working in buildings. As a standard for objectively evaluating buildings for comfort, safety, and health for people, certification is added not only from the perspective of environmental engineering but also from the viewpoint of medical science.

Evaluation items for WELL certification

The evaluation items for WELL Certification consist of the following categories: (1) air, (2) water, (3) nourishment, (4) light, (5) movement, (6) thermal comfort, (7) sound, (8) materials, (9) mind, (10) community and (11) innovation.

Two external standards that support WELL certification

①LEVEL Certification

LEVEL®, BIFMA’s sustainability certification program for furniture, is a comprehensive and transparent third-party certification program. The LEVEL mark attests that the product, the manufacturing facility, and the company responsible for the product brand, have been evaluated against the multi-attribute criteria of the ANSI/BIFMA e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard.

②Indoor Air Quality Certification

Indoor Advantage Gold certification assures that future products support a healthy indoor environment by meeting strict chemical emission limits for volatile organic compounds(VOCs).
