Okamura receives Special Award in the Environmentally Sustainable Company Category of the 4th ESG Finance Awards Japan

Okamura Corporation has received a Special Award in the Environmentally Sustainable Company category of the 4th ESG Finance Award Japan organized by the Ministry of the Environment, as a company that has made outstanding efforts considering its size and industry characteristics. 

The ESG Finance Awards Japan is an award system established by the Ministry of the Environment in 2019 to promote and expand ESG finance, which recognises institutional investors, financial institutions, intermediaries, and companies that have actively engaged in ESG finance, environmental or social projects that have made an impact. The awards aim to promote the expansion of ESG finance.

The Environmentally Sustainable Company category is awarded to show investors and companies concrete examples of ‘environmentally sustainable companies’ that have incorporated ‘significant environmental opportunities and risks’ into their management strategies to increase their corporate value, and that have also linked this to their corporate value while generating positive effects on the environment. In short, the award is presented to companies that have achieved a positive impact on the environment while also creating value for their business.

Reasons behind Okamura’s award.

Despite limited resources in terms of company size, Okamura is strategically focusing on unique and distinctive initiatives.  We see the circular use of raw materials as also contributing to the mitigation of climate change, and we have put forward the concept of ‘circular design’ and are promoting the effective use of stock while reducing resource input and consumption throughout the product lifecycle, which has been deemed unique and worthy of recognition.
