Okamura’s Exhibit at NeoCon 2024 Wins the “German Design Award 2025” in the “Excellent Architecture” Category

Okamura Corporation’s exhibit at North America’s leading commercial interiors trade show, NeoCon 2024, has been honored with the prestigious German Design Award 2025 in the “Excellent Architecture” category. The creative direction for the exhibit was overseen by Nippon Design Center, Inc. (Headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Kenya Hara). This marks Okamura’s first-ever win in the “Excellent Architecture” category.
The German Design Award, established in 1953 by the German Design Council, is recognized globally as one of the most prestigious accolades in design. A distinguishing feature of this award is that entries are nominated by the Council from works that have already achieved recognition through other design awards worldwide, making a nomination itself a significant honor.
At NeoCon 2024, held from June 10 to 12 in Chicago, Illinois, Okamura showcased its unique philosophy of meticulous attention to detail under the theme “To the last detail.” The exhibit was divided into four areas: Installation, Engineering, Scene, and Feeling Room, each highlighting different aspects of Okamura’s craftsmanship. Visitors experienced the comfort of innovative materials, the hidden beauty beneath seat surfaces, and the craftsmanship concealed within the backrests, offering a multidimensional appreciation of Okamura’s products.

This year’s exhibit at NeoCon, “To the last detail,” allows visitors to explore various facets of Okamura’s design philosophy through four uniquely themed areas: Installation, Engineering, Scene, and Feeling Room.
■About the German Design Award
The German Design Award was established in 2012 by the German Design Council to celebrate outstanding design achievements. It consists of three main categories: “Excellent Product Design”, “Excellent Communications Design”, and “Excellent Architecture”. Works are nominated for the award by the German Design Council from those that have already been recognized as exemplary, making the nomination itself a mark of distinction.
Each category offers three levels of recognition: Gold (Grand Prize), Winner (Award of Excellence), and Nominee.
