Specere Seating Wins Silver Award at Best Of NeoCon 2024

Okamura Corporation has been awarded the “SILVER AWARD” in the Best of NeoCon 2024 in the FURNITURE category in the Seating: Ergonomic Desk/Task category at NeoCon, the largest commercial interior exhibition in North America, for its Specere seating.
Specere also won the HiP Awards 2024 Winner in the Workplace: Task Seating category at NeoCon, organized by INTERIOR DESIGN magazine, one of North America’s most renowned interior design and architecture magazines.

NeoCon (National Exposition of Contract Furnishings) has been held annually since 1969 at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, USA, and is the largest commercial interiors exhibition in North America.
The ‘Best of NeoCon’ award is given to the best products exhibited at NeoCon. Okamura has received the award for six of its products to date.

The Specere is a universally designed office seating whose back and seat follow the body’s movements, allowing everyone to sit comfortably.
The reclining mechanism ‘Active move’ supports the worker naturally by realizing a movement that follows the body flexibly through the reclining function from a slightly forward leaning posture to a backward leaning posture and the bending function of the back and seat to the left and right. The clean, simple design with a thin, compact mechanism harmonizes with all kinds of spaces. The simple structure with a reduced number of parts realizes lightweight construction and reduces environmental impact.
It has received the Chicago Good Design Award 2023 in the USA, the UNIVERSAL DESIGN EXPERT and UNIVERSAL CONSUMER of the Universal Design Award 2023 in Germany, the Good Design Award 2023 and the German iF DESIGN AWARD 2024.
