In order to deliver better offices that take sustainability into consideration, Okamura has established an in-house laboratory office. We aim to make optimal proposals based on know-how and research data obtained through actual use.
Proposal for SDGs-conscious office space
We propose the creation of spaces necessary for offices in line with the goals set forth by the SDGs.
Sit to Stand desks are placed for workers’ health to prevent prolonged sitting.
Large sound-collecting microphones and other equipment are installed to ensure seamless connections for people attending meetings from outside.
A ping-pong table was installed to promote internal communication and health.
Introduce snacks and refreshments to motivate and promote interaction.
Work x D is a new hoteling system. A non-contact facial recognition system is used on the door.
Reduced CO2 emissions during layout changes in open offices with no partitions.

Okamura’s Carbon Neutral 2050 Declaration
The Okamura Group aims to become carbon neutral by 2050.
As an interim milestone, we have set a target to reduce CO2 emissions 50%, of 2020 levels by 2030. To achieve carbon neutrality, we will further strengthen our existing activities and develop initiatives from a new perspective to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society.
Toward carbon neutrality in 2050
In 1997, we implemented our GREEN WAVE initiative, which now incorporates our goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This initiative is now moving to the next stage! As the Okamura Group aims to become carbon neutral by 2050, we have set an interim milestone of reducing CO2 emissions 50%, compared with 2020 levels, by 2030. In order to accomplish this goal, we will further strengthen our activities and develop initiatives from a new perspective to contribute to the realization of a carbon-free society.
Carbon Offset Program
Carbon offsetting is the concept of compensating for unavoidable emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases in our daily lives and economic activities by first making efforts to reduce emissions as much as possible, and then investing in greenhouse gas reduction activities that are commensurate with the amount of greenhouse gases that are inevitably emitted. emissions by investing in GHG reduction activities that match the amount of GHGs emitted. Okamura has set out to monitor CO2 emissions throughout the product life cycle for office furniture products—from the procurement of raw materials to manufacturing, sales, and disposal after use. In January 2022, we launched the Carbon Offset Program to offer customers products with emission credits which is equivalent for the CO2 emissions from the manufacturing process of the products.
